Private Windsor Castle Tour from London — Private Car and Licensed Guide

Explore Windsor Castle with a highly qualified Blue Badge private tour guide (with additional accreditation for this site). Get the ultimate insight into the history of Windsor Castle’s foundation for William the Conqueror after 1066, and learn all about the royal family as you explore King Charles III’s home. This day trip to Windsor Castle begins in London. Private car and separate licensed guide; timed entry arranged; hotel pickup included. A train option of this tour is also available.

Your tour includes:

  • Private guided tour of Windsor Castle's precincts with your tour guide
  • Explore St George’s Chapel. Most recently Queen Elizabeth II was buried here, and it is where the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took place. The chapel also contains the tombs of other monarchs including King Charles I and the notorious King Henry VIII. Closed to visitors on Sundays.
  • See the State Rooms where the royals welcome visitors from across the world. You will be provided with an audio tour for this portion (no live-guiding allowed).
  • See the King's Guards up close - get much closer than you can at Buckingham Palace! Enjoy the Changing the Guard ceremony on selected days.
  • Enjoy a stroll around the town of Windsor itself - there’s more than just the castle here!
  • Plus so much more…with 1000 years of history, Windsor Castle has a story around every corner.

Explore Windsor Castle – the world’s oldest and largest inhabited castle! Windsor Castle is where Queen Elizabeth II spent the majority of her private weekends – she is now buried here at St George’s Chapel.

This tour lasts around 5 hours by car or train, including your transfers to and from Windsor Castle. The time spent at the Castle is around 2 hours, plus (if time allows) you’ll explore the town of Windsor on a private walking tour.

You can combine a visit to Windsor Castle with other sights – for example, check out our Windsor and Stonehenge private tour.

Jo was our tour guide for three different tours (Hampton Court, The Tower of London, and Westminster Abbey). We enjoyed all of the tours, and definitely learned/noticed things we would not have if we had done these on our own. Jo was an excellent tour guide — very knowledgeable and easy going. We unreservedly recommend London Private Tours, and Jo, in particular.

Chris was our tour guide when we visited Hampton Court, and he was fantastic. His knowledge went far beyond the parts of the palace you normally see, he knew the stories, history, and fascinating details about areas most visitors would never even know about. He made Hampton Court come alive for us and turned a great visit into a truly memorable experience. Highly recommended!

Highly recommend London Private Tours - was wonderful from the planning to the execution and so many happy wonderful memories. Guide had wit and geared it to the 5 tween/teens and also answered our more in-depth questions too from Westminster Church to the Tower and tied in everything so well. Private, geared to our group interest and ages, and even gramma kept up as we walked and then cooled off in bus and then walked and cooled off again in bus on way back to hotel.

Great experience seeing several sights in depth, up close and personal. Gio was very helpful planning our day in advance. Our guide Charlotte was amazing - very knowledgeable and attuned to my special mobility needs. We got to see so much more than we would have managed on our own. Highly recommend!!

As I was searching for a private tour guide in London that included car service, I came across Private London Tours. From the very beginning, Gio made the experience feel personal, and communication was always easy and responsive. It felt like working with a family-run business rather than a large corporate company. He patiently answered all of my questions, and I knew we had chosen the right company. Our group consisted of nine people, ranging from children as young as 8 years old to older adults. The tour was thoughtfully planned to match our group’s pace, making sure everyone was comfortable with the walking between sites. We were fortunate to have Catherine R. as our guide, and she was absolutely wonderful. She took us to every place on our must-see list, and we were able to check off everything we had hoped to experience. Her knowledge of London was incredible, and she brought the city’s history to life with fascinating stories. She also made the tour especially memorable for the kids by sharing fun and engaging stories that kept them interested throughout the day. If you’re looking for a personalized, stress-free way to explore London, I highly recommend Private London Tours. Their excellent communication, flexibility, and outstanding service made this one of the highlights of our trip.

Geo was responsive and I always appreciate that! He helped us set up exactly what we wanted. Charlotte was our guide and she was amazing as well! She made sure our day was spent as we wished. We chose where we went and how long we stayed. I loved that she asked what type of information we wanted wanted to hear - history, facts, fun stories - at each location. It was just a fantastic day!!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our family had an outstanding experience with London Private Tours, and Dani was an exceptional guide from start to finish. She was warm, welcoming, incredibly knowledgeable, and went out of her way to make sure everyone in our group—including our young children—had a fantastic time. Dani’s passion for London was evident in every stop along the tour. She shared fascinating history, pointed out details we never would have noticed on our own, and tailored the experience to our interests and pace. She was patient, accommodating, and made the entire morning feel effortless and enjoyable. Without question, our tour with Dani was one of the highlights of our time in London. She didn’t just show us the city—she helped us experience it in a way we’ll always remember. We can’t recommend London Private Tours highly enough, and if you’re lucky enough to have Dani as your guide, you’re in for a truly memorable day.

I booked two London tours with Private London Tours - one of the Tower of London and one full day tour that included a visit to Westminster Abbey and a private VIP tour inside the Churchill War Rooms. Both tours were fabulous! Our guides were extremely knowledgeable and shared fun facts for both adults and kids. The war rooms are a definite must! I can't recommend this company enough.
