Windsor and Stonehenge Private Tour Itinerary

MorningTravel to Stonehenge

Meet your licensed and Blue Badge-qualified guide at your central London hotel, apartment or other location. Journey to Stonehenge in our spacious, air-conditioned Mercedes van with a dedicated driver. Hear about the unique features of the British countryside as you leave London and enjoy the breathtaking landscape.

MorningStonehenge

Arrive at Stonehenge and witness why this is a must-see on anyone’s visit to England. Your guide will help you uncover Stonehenge’s story – who built Stonehenge and why? how old is it? and how did it get here?

Late MorningDrive to Windsor and Lunch

Next, it’s a drive to the historic market town of Windsor.

Stop for a spot of lunch with recommendations from your guide. Whether it’s a restaurant or pub, sandwich stop or fresh street food, we’ll make sure your dietary requirements and desires are catered for.

AfternoonWindsor Castle

Visit Windsor Castle, the home of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.  You’ll enjoy:

  • A private guided tour of the precincts with your tour guide
  • Visit St George’s Chapel where Queen Elizabeth II is buried. See the tombs of other famous monarchs including King Charles I and the notorious King Henry VIII. The chapel is also where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had their royal wedding. Closed to visitors on Sundays.
  • See the State Rooms where the Royal Family and the King and Queen welcome visitors from across the world. You will be provided with an audio tour for this portion (no live-guiding allowed).
  • See the Queen’s Guards up close – get much closer to the Guards than you can at Buckingham Palace! On select days you can also enjoy a front-row view the Changing the Guard ceremony up close.

With 1000 years of history, Windsor Castle has a story around every corner and is a must-see on any trip to the UK.

Please note due to opening hours, the order or visiting Windsor Castle and Stonehenge may be reversed on your tour.

Late AfternoonTravel back to London

Drive back to London and end your private tour of Windsor and Stonehenge at your hotel, apartment or even a restaurant. We can also end this tour at Heathrow Airport, Gatwick Airport, Southampton, Tilbury or Portsmouth for an additional charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I secure my tour with a deposit?

We’re happy to offer the option to book any tour with just a 25% deposit when arranged at least two months ahead. Book via our website or by email. The remainder is payable one month before your tour, with an email reminder sent. Our website accepts Visa and Mastercard; for Amex payments, please contact us.

Is this tour private?

Yes. All our tours are exclusive to your party, ensuring a fully private experience with no mixed groups.

Are your tour guides licensed?

Absolutely. We only use licensed Blue Badge Tourist Guides – the gold standard in UK guiding, achieved through two years of in-depth training. Their expertise guarantees an exceptional and insightful tour. Companies using unlicensed guides will give you “free time” to see the castle as their guides are not allowed to enter the castle – our guides will accompany you and guide in Windsor Castle’s grounds.

Can I visit Stonehenge, Windsor and Bath together?

We strongly recommend against this. We know other companies offer this BUT we also know that guests do not enjoy the experience and wish they hadn’t done it. Trying to do all 3 in one day means spending at least 6-7 hours on the road, leaving you with only have a few hours to visit two of the UK’s most iconic locations, have something to eat and also visit the entirety of Bath including the Roman Baths. Slow down – take it at an enjoyable pace and choose to see 2 of the sights properly, rather than rush all three. We do not offer all 3 sights in one day.

Other combinations are possible too. Contact us to book any custom options.

What's the Cancellation Policy for this tour?

  • Cancel at least 10 days before your tour’s scheduled start time (London local time) – £100 cancellation fee + admission ticket costs.
  • Cancel between 4 and 10 days before – 50% cancellation fee + admission ticket costs.
  • Cancel within 96 hours (4 days) – 100% cancellation fee.

This policy ensures our guides are paid fairly when bookings are cancelled. Departure times are listed in local London time – if you are unsure, please contact us. We strongly recommend taking out full travel insurance for your trip.
